9/13-14: Hilarious monologuist Josh Kornbluth is performing the classic Red Diaper Baby at the Magic Theater in Fort Mason for filming by The Sundance Channel! Tickets available via The Z Space. Look out for dates later this fall to see Josh improvising his newest monologue! September 4-14: The San Francisco Fringe Festival will attack your sensibilities. All shows $8 or less, and all are finished within 60 minutes or less. Some are amazing and some are not. On-line reviews at sffringe.org can be of assistance, but everyone should see at least two this year!!

Now through 9/29: The Z Space is currently presenting Word for Word's outstanding and creative interpretations of Tobias Wolff! Volunteer to usher or buy tickets here!

September 19-29: Herbert Siguenza (of Culture Clash) peforms with a cast of four in a bilingual production of legendary Mexican comedian, Cantinflas! Charlie Chaplin called Cantinflas "the greatest comedian ever born." Come find out how and why at The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, also in association with The Z Space!


September 7: 4th Annual 911 Power to the Peaceful Festival at Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park at noon.

September 21: How should we celebrate this International Day of Peace? We'd love to hear your suggestions and perhaps get together for a celebration honoring this international effort at a day of ceasefire.

September 23-28: APAture: A Window on the Art of Young Asian Pacific Americans presents diverse art presentations at SomArts (934 Brannan St., San Francisco).

Mill Valley Film Festival: (10/3-13) is having special 25th Anniversary Screenings now at the Rafael Film Center, with some amazing films on the big screen at two for the price of one!!

Candice wants to make sure you know that Baraka--one of the most beautifully photographed films ever--is playing on ze big screen at The Castro Theater 9/1-9/12.

If you liked Baraka, you should consider seeing Koyaanisqatsi at the beautiful Davies Symphony Hall, complete with original film score composer Philip Glass performing live (10/13).

The Fine Arts Cinema has reopened in Berkeley through 2002 before remodeling. Some programs were particularly interested in include: Lalee's Kin: The Legacy of Cotton with Concert of Wills: Making the Getty Center (9/19-26); Coming to Light: Edward S. Curtis and the North American Indians with Peter Jackson's Forgotten Silver (9/29-10/2); and Hybrid with Earth (10/17-23

October 18: Sarah Jones and Teen Poetry Slam Champion Chinaka Hodge in Generations: Celebrating the Possibilities of Language at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

October 26-28: Two of the finest writer/performers in the universe--David Cale and Anne Galjour--will be reading a new collaborative work, Stars at Night, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. (Q&As after 10/26 & 10/28 performances.)


October 25-26: Ani DiFranco is destined to astonish us again with her solo musical performance at The Paramount Theater in Oakland!

October 31- November 16: See the hilarious, demented creativity of San Francisco's Thunderbird Theater Company in action with their new musical extravaganza: Rocket Girl!


Check out Terri Irwin on oboe with the Pleasanton Community Concert Band various dates in Pleasanton throughout the fall!
