Now more than ever we clearly need to support local, national, and international media alternatives to the mainstream debacle of corporate press. Please check out sites below that are new to you--and we always love to hear of worthwhile new sites to check out! Common Dreams is a wonderfully comprehensive resource of current progressive press articles on line with a wealth of worthwhile links. Adbusters is an organization committed to addressing the corporate advertising culture that overwhelms most of us every day. They have a provocative quarterly periodical and on line materials. Alternet.org is a project of the Independent Media Institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening and supporting independent and alternative journalism. Independent Media Center is a collective of independent media organizations and hundreds of journalists offering grassroots, non-corporate coverage. Indymedia is a democratic media outlet for the creation of radical, accurate, and passionate tellings of truth. Sf.indymedia.org is the excellent San Francisco branch the independent media center. KPFA (94.1 FM) is a crucial radio station for the Bay Area and the world. A Pacifica station, it has recently undergone and continues the fight for democracy station management and the right to air progressive and alternative discussions on 94.1 FM from Berkeley and the world through the internet. KPFA.COM is an important site for discussion and action around issues of the station and the Pacifica Network. CounterPunch is another outstanding political media alternative with writers who will not be appearing on MSNBC panels in this lifetime. Amazing links page.
WorldLinkTV: Since we are not smart enough to blow up our tv, we are at least grateful that something as truthful as the broadcasting of WorldLinkTV is coming into our homes and any home across the United States with DirecTV. With many powerful progressive documentaries shown, the information is there for the taking. The Mt. Diablo Peace Center is an organization near our house in Walnut Creek that is devoted to peace activism.
