Mandarin--the sweetest kitty in the world!

Mandarin was the sweetest and most affectionate cat we have ever known. We are so sad to have lost her so early in life, but we are most grateful that she shared so much love with Madeline, Candice, David, and all those that visited 30 View Lane during her short two and a half years of life! We were all just lucky to have that wondrous time with her, and to have had the opportunity to give her so much love and affection in return! Mandarin, we miss you and we will always love you.

January/February 2003

Before and since the loss of our dear Mandarin, we were lucky enough to have a lot of great visiting with friends and family at 2002's end and 2003's beginning! The Hocks hosted a great Christmas Eve dinner that was very festive! On Christmas Day, we took a beautiful road trip to Santa Cruz with Madeline, Grandma Helen, and our great friend Doug Matt! We enjoyed the ocean, the mountains--and Candice got her luxurious grub on with lobster tail and filet mignon. Candice and David then went to sin city for Kathy and Glenn's festive wedding ceremony, and had a great time visiting with Mom and Dad Fukumoto, Carlton, Debbie, Mia and Carah--and all the Agena family we don't see often enough! In addition, we were spoiled at every turn by the very generous Taga family to a fun LV style show and infinite VIP buffets--thanks again to each and every Taga!!

We finished 2002 with a great overdue visit from the Rankin-Gee family! We had lots of fun, but the highlight had to be the New Year's Eve When Pigs Fly Ping Pong Tournament, with a dramatic championship match pitting Elyse and Candice versus Richard and JoAnn! In the singles tournament, powerhouse Erik Wagner Heskin knocked off Candice in the championship match!!

Since then, while emotionally struggling with the sudden loss of Mandarin, we've enjoyed frequent visits with friends and look forward to many more in 2003!! We love hearing from you and like seeing you even more!!! Along those lines, we would like to start a Sunday Sport and Supper Club--a once a month meeting to play some sport or get some exercise--could be hike, yoga, bike ride, badminton...maybe even the occasional basketball--but we're open to suggestions! Please email us if you're interested and with your suggestions. We'd like to take turns with the meal responsibilities and the athletic suggestions, but we'll have to see how many are interested and what ideas you have!

Candice and the Marina Middle School Girls 2002 basketball team surpassed all expectations this December! As a bottom seed in the playoffs, they won two playoff games to make it to the championship!! There, they fought valiantly but came up short against a very skilled opponent! Nonetheless, congratulations to Coach Fukumoto and all the girls on finishing second place and having a great year!!! Good luck next year!

paz y amor,

Candice y David
