We continue to struggle with a violent and dishonest world. A world where we are seemingly flooded with misinformation. While devoting some of our energy towards nonviolent efforts, we also continue to focus on positive personal experiences in our lives. Our best experience of March was far and away our weekend at Sequoia National Park/Kings Canyon with Liz, Dale, Joe, and Jennifer. The more experienced campers took us under their wings and ensured we did not have to lead any activities for a change. Regardless of that, it was impossible for any of us not to appreciate these gorgeous surroundings and awesome trees that are thousands of years old, and the largest (by volume) living things on the Earth. Our first time in a little snow in much too long was occasionally challenging, but all the more exciting. Three beautiful days away from it all were a refreshing, albeit luxurious, holiday. Earlier in the month, we had the excitement of watching former Marina Middle School basketball star Georgia Onyomen lead Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep into the California State Championship, where they valiantly battled the team that ultimately won its fourth straight state championship. Congratulations to Georgia and all of the talented girls and boys we had a chance to see play at Arco Arena!! We saw a number of inspiring films at the Asian American Film Festival and are looking forward to many provocative films at this month's SF International Film Festival! Hope some of you will check out some of the many international and other films uniquely available at this festival. On April 10th, Candice and Liz Fierst take off for Amsterdam/Belgium this week. They are sure to have a fun and relaxing spring break thousands of miles away from the joys and occasional pains of Marina Middle School. They are required to come back with memorable stories and ready to see lots of movies at the SFIFF!! On Sunday April 27th at approximately 2:00 pm, we would like to have a goofy little racquetball tournament at the outdoor racquetball courts in Golden Gate Park! Maybe we can have a little potluck or something as well. If you think you'll make it, please email or call! Take care, |
