November 2002

Greetings from the heart of fall,

Hello everyone!! We are off to a busy November with tons of activities ahead of us. Candice has her first Marina girls basketball game this Wednesday against Francisco MS. Although there are more girls than I can handle, I have some solid players who can handle the ball, shoot, post up, rebound, box-out, pick & roll, give & go, and hustle. We should have a promising year! I am enjoying being a part of the SFUSD teachers' leadership cadre program this year. It is inspiring to be around enthusiastic teachers who are energized, intelligent, and who I can learn a lot from. I feel extremely lucky to teach 8th grade U.S History, and I am having a blast teaching this year. Believe it or not, I feel I have a better balance this year. Although I have about 160 students this year, I'm energized and not tired yet!!

David is a busy little beaver as usual. He is involved with a number of challenging and exciting projects. He has begun to document the New Works Inititiative with Z Space, Magic Theater, and others. He is continuing to learn by experience at ROHO, just having returned from the Oral History Association Conference, where he saw a diverse and impressive number of presentations and made some worthwhile web technology contacts as well. That visit to San Diego also gave David the opportunity to have a surprise lunch with my dear old dad--just back from his and mom's exciting travels in Japan!

Finally, we want to have an early December gathering out at 30 View Lane. Would you prefer a game night or a movie night? Please submit your response here and feel free to make recommendations regarding specifics games, movies, dates, and/or other ideas!

Hope to see you at a play, film, MMS basketball game, or a hike this November!!!

Candice y David
